In this three-week hand-building class, students will explore the playful and tactile world of clay while creating a special ceramic box for holding treasures; tiny objects, found treasures, keepsakes, or anything meaningful to them.
Led by a ceramic artist and teacher with over 10 years of experience working with clay and teaching youth, this class will introduce students to hand-building and slab-rolling techniques. Over the three weeks, students will learn how to roll, shape, join, and texture clay as they design and build their own one-of-a-kind box.
The first two weeks will focus on building and decorating, giving students plenty of time to experiment with form, texture, and surface design. In the final week, students will return to glaze their finished pieces, adding color and personality before their boxes are fired.
With a focus on creativity, exploration, and connection to the natural world, this class encourages students to slow down, get their hands dirty, and discover the joy of making something entirely their own.

Policies
By signing up for a class, you agree to these policies:
You may cancel a class for a full refund or class credit 14 days before the start date of the (first) class.
Our classes and workshops are designed for participants 16 years and older, unless otherwise stated.
The first class is foundational to the entire series; if you are a beginner and are unable to attend the first class, please join us for another session when you can attend them in sequence. For the other classes, if you are unable to attend or miss a week, you can make up the hours during unguided open studio time.
All scheduled classes and workshops start and end on time. Please be prompt in your arrival and departure, as we often have other classes starting after yours. Arriving 15 minutes late to a class counts as a no-show, and no make up class will be offered. Instructors are subject to change.
We reserve the right to cancel any class due to low enrollment or unforeseen conflicts. If a class is cancelled, we will do our best to reschedule the session. If you are unable to attend the rescheduled class, you will be issued a refund.
Please note that we may take photos during the workshop to use on social media. If you do not wish to be photographed, please let the teacher know when you arrive.
