Woven Pack Basket Workshop
Workshop Description:
Join us to learn how to make your very own Adirondack style pack basket, a beautiful and practical piece that you will use for years! Great for picnics, farmers markets, harvesting produce, hiking through the forest and toting your supplies along for all kinds of adventures. This two-day intensive workshop will cover the fundamentals of basket weaving, considering structure and pattern.
The first portion of the workshop will be dedicated to planning out the projects, preparing materials, discussing colors, patterns, and structure, followed by the creation of the pack baskets base shape. The following day will be dedicated to building up the walls, integrating design elements, binding the top edge and securing straps. Students will walk away with a pack basket on their back. This course is designed for beginners and intermediate students alike.

About the Instructor

Alli Sheridan
Craftsperson, Designer and Educator
Alli Sheridan (she/her) is a craftsperson and designer currently living and working in Oakland, CA. Over the last decade, Alli has split her time between working in architecture studios and in workshop/fabrication settings. She has found the movement between physical and cerebral spaces to be as vital to her learning as it has been to her happiness.
If culture is created through participation, Alli believes that when people create and see others in the act of creation, there is an often unrecognized value therein. A finished product can be a statement in its own right but she is perhaps more interested in the electricity of the act - the uncharted conversations, connections, revelations and moments of inspiration that happen in the shop, on a job site, in the field, over a shared meal. She is driven by a curiosity about material and process and holds the belief that there is no one right way to do a thing, no such thing as a perfect object.
