Workshop Description:

Bright, intricate, and endlessly satisfying to make, these handmade ribbon ornaments combine color, texture, and sparkle into keepsakes that feel both vintage and fresh. In this class, you will learn the art of folded ribbon layering, a traditional craft technique often used for quilted ornaments, using foam bases, satin ribbon, sequins, and pins to create dimensional patterns and gem-like surfaces.

Students will explore color placement, pattern variation, and embellishment techniques to create one or more ornaments to take home.

The Castaneda Twins Melissa and Elizabeth Castaneda—also known as the Castaneda twins—have been creating together since the very beginning. Their artistic collaboration spans a wide range of disciplines, reflecting their shared passion for creativity and community.

Melissa Castaneda is a multifaceted artist specializing in costume design, face painting, dance, and performance. Her work brings imaginative beauty to life, and she is known for her vibrant, handcrafted creations.

Elizabeth Castaneda is a dedicated dance educator, teaching at several schools throughout the Nevada City area. In addition to her work in movement arts, she is also an accomplished crafter who brings a joyful, hands-on approach to creative expression.

Together, they founded Sister Magic Productions and began making handcrafted holiday ornaments nearly a decade ago. Their annual tradition of creating festive Christmas balls has grown into a beloved workshop, where they now share the joy of this accessible, gift-worthy craft with others.

By signing up for a class, you agree to these policies:

You may cancel a class for a full refund or class credit 14 days before the start date of the class. 

All scheduled classes and workshops start and end on time. Please be prompt in your arrival and departure, as we often have other classes starting after yours. Arriving 15 minutes late to a class counts as a no-show, and no make up class will be offered. Instructors are subject to change.

We reserve the right to cancel any class due to low enrollment or unforeseen conflicts. If a class is cancelled, we will do our best to reschedule the session.  If you are unable to attend the rescheduled class, you will be issued a refund. 

Please note that we may take photos during the workshop to use on social media.  If you do wish to be photographed, please let the teacher know when you arrive.

There is a metered parking lot very close to the Tinnery, please ensure you have coins to pay the meter, as it does not accept cards.

Gift cards can be applied toward all classes or Wolf Craft merchandise.  Gift Cards can not be redeemed for cash.  Gift Cards do not expire.
