Workshop Description:

Dive into the ancient and captivating tradition of Ukrainian egg decorating in this hands-on Pysanka workshop. Using the time-honored wax-resist technique, participants will learn how to create intricate, symbolic designs on eggshells, transforming simple eggs into beautiful works of art. Guided by an experienced instructor, you'll learn to use the kistka tool to apply hot wax and layer dyes, achieving the stunning, multi-colored patterns that define Pysanka. As you decorate, you’ll explore the rich cultural meanings behind common motifs, such as geometric shapes, floral patterns, and symbols of protection, renewal, and prosperity. Whether you’re a beginner or have experience with similar crafts, this workshop offers a deeply immersive experience into a centuries-old tradition, allowing you to create a unique pysanka to take home while connecting with the cultural heritage and symbolic power of this beautiful art form. These eggs make great ornaments.
