Workshop Description:

As the seasons shift, chilly days still linger—why not keep your feet warm with a pair of handmade wet felted slippers? Transform soft wool into a seamless, custom-fitted pair of cozy booties or slippers! In this hands-on class, you’ll learn the traditional wet felting technique, using warm water, soap, and agitation to sculpt wool fibers into durable footwear.

You’ll begin by creating a resist pattern to shape your slippers, then layer and manipulate the wool to bring them to life. If you’d like to add a leather sole for extra durability, you’ll cut and shape it during class. While the sewing won’t be completed in class, you’ll receive a live demonstration on how to attach the sole and take home detailed step-by-step instructions to finish them at your own pace. Participants need to bring a large towel to class.

This class is perfect for both beginners and experienced felters—no prior experience is necessary. Walk away with a warm, handmade pair of slippers and the skills to create more on your own!

About the Instructor

Alicia Honeybee

Alicia Honeybee

teacher, learner, maker

I am Alicia Honeybee of @little.star.arts. I am both teacher, learner, and maker. I also run a local Waldorf farm and forest homeschool program @wildacornsvillage Many of the skills I love to teach have been passed from generation to generation. They are the crafts of our ancestors and the ancestors of all lands. My intention in teaching these skills is to honor and share the wisdom of the past into the present. My aim is to explore these stories together and be informed stewards of these skills. The crafts I focus on are beeswax candle making, beadwork, natural dyeing, and all things wool ~ spinning, knitting, weaving, felting, shearing. I love to gather and connect and create together, that is where beauty lives.
